Denise "Denny" Molenburg

Denise “Denny” Molenburg, 90, of Grimes, Iowa, and formerly Urbandale and Oskaloosa, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025, surrounded by her family at Kennybrook Village in Grimes, Iowa. Denise Jane Molenburg, daughter of Carl Owen and Mary Beatrice (McKissick) Gregory, was born on February 19, 1935, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was a 1953 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. She married Jerry Duane Molenburg on June 27, 1954, at the Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa. They made their home in Oskaloosa until 1966, when a job for Jerry with Western Electric took them to Urbandale. Denny, as she was fondly known, was a stay-at-home mom for much of her life, but after her children were raised, she worked at Younkers Store for Homes. After Jerry retired, they wintered many years in Apache Junction. She was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Urbandale. Denny loved having her family around and enjoyed the chaos of her many great-grandchildren at gatherings. She took great pride in buying each a Christmas gift and shopped all year. She enjoyed playing bridge, bingo, and crafting; she especially loved chocolate. Denise has resided at Kenny Brook since 2022 and lived at Deerfield for the prior seven years. Her family includes her children: Toni Sue (Keith) Johnson of State Center and Jerry Scott (Audrey) Molenburg of Lake City, Florida; six grandchildren: Jeremy (Amanda) Johnson of Circleville, Ohio, Patrick (Molly) Johnson of Waukee, Gregory (Jocelin) Johnson of Marshalltown, Susan (Jake) Conkin of Waukee, Kendra (Ryan) Funck of Orange Park, Florida, and Tyler (Melanie) Molenburg of Ft. Myers, Florida; 15 great-grandchildren: Harper and Charlee Johnson, Reed and Josie Johnson, Jace, Kenna, Landry, Mabry and Macoy Johnson, Jane, Theodore, Genevieve, and Cecelia Conkin, Oliver Funck, and Kylin Molenburg. In addition to her parents, Denny was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, on January 8, 2006, and her siblings and their spouses: Vonnie and Jack Hoyt and Robert and June Gregory. Funeral services for Denny will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 31, 2025, at Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Jason Pool of Suncrest Hospice officiating. Interment will be in Forest Cemetery. The family will greet visitors from 1-2 p.m., before the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Suncrest Hospice.
