Annie Dykstra

October 18, 1939 - September 20, 2021

Annie Dykstra, 81, of Oskaloosa and formerly Eddyville, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021, at the Mahaska Health Hospice Serenity House. Annie Faye Dykstra, the second oldest child of 15 children born to Floyd Oscar and Edna Mae (Van Toorn) Orfield, was born October 18, 1939, in Cambria, Iowa. She attended a rural school near Allerton and then graduated in 1958 from Allerton High School. Soon after high school, she was united in marriage to Don Dykstra on June 22, 1958, at the Allerton Nazarene Church. They made their home on a farm near Eddyville, where Annie helped her husband with farming and ran a cake decorating business out of her home. She was an active member of the North Bethel Christian Church in rural Eddyville; she served as a 4-H leader for 24 years and was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a Past Worthy Matron. Her family includes her husband, Don of Eddyville; her son, David (Lori) Dykstra of St. Charles, IA, and a daughter, Marilyn (Jim) Gann of Boonville, MO; three granddaughters: Chelsea, Callie, and Abigail, and a grandson, Riley; her siblings: Alta Dykstra of Oskaloosa, Arlene Gustin of Grand Junction, IA, June Anderson of Jefferson, IA, Flo Tarbell of Knoxville, IA, Joy (Dwight) Meyer of Albert Lee, MN, Joyce Orfield of Farlin, IA, Debbie (Gary) Akin of Farlin, IA, Jerry Orfield of Grand Junction, IA, Dwayne Orfield of Fort Lupton, CO, Mark Orfield of Osceola, IA, Oscar Orfield of Jefferson, IA and a sister-in-law, Janet Miller of Marion, IA. In addition to her parents, Annie was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald, two sisters: Elaine and Helen Finley, and a brother, Darwin Orfield. Funeral Services for Annie will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Langkamp Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Coal Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. The family will greet visitors from 9:30 to service time on Saturday morning. Memorial contributions can be made to Coal Creek Cemetery.
