Gerald (Jerry) Hilliard: Jerry passed away Saturday evening at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa at the age of 69 years, 6 months and 20 days. Jerry's memory is honored by his wife, Ruth of Oskaloosa; his children and their spouses, a son, Michael C. & Ann Hilliard of Glendale, AZ; and a daughter, Leslie & Vladimir Scharafanow of North Branch, MN. He was blessed with three grandchildren and one step- grandson. He is survived by a sister & brother-in-law, Martha & J.B. Phillips of Oskaloosa and a brother, Robert V. Hilliard of Des Moines, Iowa. Jerry Hilliard, son of Roy Virgil and Lena May McCurdy Hilliard was born Feb. 10, 1934 in Oskaloosa, IA. He was a 1952 graduate of Oskaloosa High School and a 1956 graduate of Iowa State University, receiving a degree in General Engineering. He served in the U.S. Air Force from1956 to 1962, achieving the rank of Captain as a Ground Electronics Officer. On April 24, 1975 he married Ruth Ann Perry in Watertown, S.D. Jerry worked as a quality control engineer for Univac in Roseville, MN, he later sold real estate in the Longville, MN area, before returning to Oskaloosa in 1994. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, canoeing, bird watching and growing wild flowers. He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church and a volunteer for SHARE Iowa.
