Jack Kenneth Caves

September 10, 1921 - October 18, 2004

Jack Kenneth Caves: Jack passed away Monday evening, Oct. 18, 2004 at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 8 days. Jack is survived by his wife, Elsie of Oskaloosa; and his three children: Rick Caves of Haslett, MI and his wife, Charlotte of Oskaloosa; Julie Linsted and her companion, Dwain Cook of Oskaloosa and Mark & Carmen Caves of Barnes City, IA; and his brother, Norris Caves of Oskaloosa; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Jack Kenneth Caves, son of Clarence Clark and Nelle Laura Norris Caves was born Sept. 10, 1921 in Birmingham, Iowa. He was a 1942 graduate of Lacey School. On Dec. 3, 1944 he married Elsie Stigers in Oskaloosa, IA. Jack began his working life at John Morrell and Wright Tree Service, working a year at each. He then began farming, first in the Lacey area and then in the Deep River and Barnes City areas. Together, Jack and Elsie operated a Café in Barnes City for three years, retiring in 1979. He and Elsie spent 14 winters in Florida at the Holiday Springs Travel Park. Jack was a member of the Tri Luminar Lodge #18. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Tracey Caves.
