Marvel Gayle Jackson

Marvel Gayle Jackson: Marvel passed away at her home in Oskaloosa on Sunday, July 4, 2004 at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 28 days. She is survived by four sons and their wives: Dennis & Linda Jackson of Harvey, Ken & June Jackson of Hartford, G. Kimo & Mindy Jackson of Hartford, and Chris & Eva Jackson of Evansville, IN; 13 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and two brothers: Homer Johannes of Montezuma and Dorman Johannes of Cedar. Marvel Gayle Jackson, daughter of Leo and Louella Farr Johannes was born Jan. 6, 1928 in Barnes City, Iowa. She attended Elm Grove Country School east of Lacey, IA; she later attained her G.E.D. in Oskaloosa. On Jan. 20, 1950, she married Maxwell Jackson in Ottumwa. They settled in the Oskaloosa area, where they have since lived. Marvel was a homemaker while her boys were young; later, she worked at William Penn College in the Housekeeping Department, retiring in 1994, after 20 years of service. Marvel was a faithful member of the Good News Chapel and a past member of O.E.S. She enjoyed growing flowers and treasured the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Max on March 24, 2000; a daughter, Faith Patricia Jackson; a son, Richard Dale Jackson; three brothers: Arthur, Cleo and Ralph; five sisters: Bernice Zimmerman, Verna Pence, Letha Moore, Donna Newell and Glema Damerval.
