Roy Willard Van Asdall

November 19, 1919 - June 23, 2003

Roy Willard Van Asdall: Roy passed away early Monday morning, June 23, 2003 at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown, IA at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 4 days. Roy is survived by his sister, Mary Brock of Oskaloosa and many nieces and a nephew. Roy Willard Van Asdall, son of John Health & Edith Blake Van Asdall was born in Bondurant, IA on November 19, 1919. He worked as a farm hand before entering the Army on Jan 16, 1943 at Camp Dodge, IA. He served in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater and earned three Bronze Battle Stars, a Combat Infantryman Badge and the World War II Victory Medal before his discharge on Dec. 6 1945 at Camp Grant, IL. Upon his return to Oskaloosa he drove a cab for many years. Roy was known as a hard worker, an avid reader, and he enjoyed fishing and his pet cats. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Byron Van Asdall. PDF Printable Version
