Carolyn Plowman

Carolyn Plowman, 80, of Battlefield, Missouri, and formerly Oskaloosa, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Carolyn Ruth Plowman, daughter of Glen and Doris (Porter) Knee, was born August 5, 1943, at her family’s home, eight miles South of Cumberland, Iowa. Growing up, Carolyn accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was a faithful believer throughout her life. She attended country school and later attended Cumberland High School. During her schooling, her family moved to Omaha, Nebraska. She attended Benson High School in Omaha and graduated with the class of 1961. Growing up, Carolyn attended a Christian camp and met Linda Plowman. At a church conference, Linda later introduced Carolyn to a nice young man by the name of Raymond Plowman. After her education, Carolyn began working for the University of Nebraska Hospital in Omaha as a secretary for a doctor. On July 14, 1962, she married her sweetheart, Raymond. After living in Omaha, Sioux City, and Gretna (NE), the family moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa. Carolyn began working for a local optometrist, Dr. Phillips, and retired in 2000. In August 2023, Carolyn and Ray moved to a retirement community in Battlefield, Missouri, to be closer to their son, Bryan. Carolyn attended Hillside Bible Church. She enjoyed gardening, family gatherings, and spending time with loved ones. She had a quiet manner but was able to influence many others through the sweetness of her life. She was a faithful wife and loving mother. Carolyn’s family includes her husband, Raymond of Battlefield, MO; two sons: Bryan (Sonja) Plowman of Cape Fair, MO, and Jeffrey (Kris) Plowman of Petersburg, IL; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Diane (Brad) Moore of Lincoln, NE; and many nieces and nephews. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Doris Knee; and a brother, Dennis Knee. Funeral services for Carolyn will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Hillside Bible Church, with Stefan Johnson officiating. The family will greet visitors from 9 a.m. to service time on Saturday morning at Hillside Bible Church. Cremation will follow the service, and her ashes will be inurned at Bloomfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Hillside Bible Church. Langkamp Funeral Chapel and Crematory has been entrusted with Carolyn’s final arrangements.
